“A really great day! My daughter came away feeling inspired and challenged… the informal concert in such a special place was wonderful.”

2016 PARENT

Plush Young Musicians Workshop is an annual event bringing together local music students aged 11-18 for a day of coaching, masterclasses and ensemble playing lead by Plush Festival director Adrian Brendel and visiting professional musicians.

The workshop is designed to spark new connections and enthuse young musicians with the joy of chamber music. All activities take place in the inspiring location of Plush Manor and St John’s chapel, just a short stroll across the garden.

Young musicians are encouraged to join us as volunteers at our festival events (from 5pm until approx 10pm). This is a great opportunity to listen to exceptional performances, meet musicians and learn new skills in a friendly environment.

Our 2017 workshop takes place on  Sunday 10 September, 10-6pm. To apply, please fill in our online application form – the closing date for applications is Monday 12 June. For further information on this year’s workshop, download our information pack. For more information please contact Jesse Bescoby at info@plushfestival.com or 020 3286 1885.

Plush Young Musicians Workshop 2016

Our 2016 workshop took place in September 2016. Musicians from the Doric Quartet joined Adrian to work with our string students on chamber music by Holst and Lanner. Principal oboe of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra Ed Kay led masterclasses with our wind players on their solo repertoire before bringing them together to play as a quartet. Pianist JP Ekins worked with piano students on Bach and Strauss and Feldenkrais practitioner Rebecca Meitlis led transformational sessions developing awareness of posture and breathing. The day finished with an informal performance in the church, allowing participants to play alongside their tutors and showcase their work.

“What a wonderful opportunity for the participants to work with such talented professionals!” Elizabeth Sweetnam (pianist, accompanist)
